Dr. Thomas A. Lucas, Jr. is the president and owner of First Eye Care Killeen.
Dr. Lucas graduated from Baylor University in 2002 as a Bachelor of Science, with concentrations in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Lucas then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, and graduated as a Doctor of Optometry in 2006.
Dr. Lucas is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board as an optometric glaucoma specialist, the highest level of optometric licensing in Texas. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and maintains competence through continuing education in all areas of eye research.
Dr. Lucas works daily to maintain rigorous quality and professional standards at First Eye Care Killeen. He has special interests in the areas of electronic health records, emerging diagnostic technology, ocular therapeutics, ocular nutrition, eye disease prevention, dry eye treatment, children's vision, and specialty contact lens fitting.
Dr. Lucas is an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Texas Optometric Association (TOA), the Heart of Texas Optometric Society (HTOS) and the Ocular Nutrition Society (ONS). He currently serves of the Board of Directors of the TOA, and is the president-elect of the HTOS. Dr. Lucas was recently honored as the 2011 Texas Young Optometrist of the Year.
